Cyber bullying is an issue on which schools and parents must work together.

Educating parents and carers, as well as students themselves, on positive uses of technology, is a useful first step, along with providing information on how to use this technology safely.

Providing teachers, parents and students with clear guidelines on cyber bullying, for example an e-policy agreement that parents must sign, is another good idea.

Schools should also provide an accessible forum for parents to share their concerns, such as a named staff member who is responsible for recording and dealing with incidents of cyber bullying.
